Neue Vakzine gegen Krankenhauskeime
aws Seedfinancing | Deep Tech | 2026 | Wien
Elaris entwickelt neuartige Impfstoffe gegen schwere bakterielle Infektionen.
Elaris entwickelt Impfstoffe gegen schwere bakterielle Infektionen.

New Vaccines Against Hospital Infections
aws Seedfinancing | Deep Tech | 2026 | Vienna
Elaris develops novel vaccines against severe bacterial infections. With support from aws Seedfinancing – Deep Tech, a vaccine against Clostridioides difficile is being prepared and advanced for clinical development.
What does the company do?
Elaris develops vaccines against severe bacterial infections. Its lead candidate targets Clostridioides difficile by neutralizing bacterial toxins and simultaneously preventing gut colonization by infectious bacteria.
What is the funded project about?
The funding supports the preparation of the vaccine candidate for clinical development. Plans include preclinical studies, the establishment of manufacturing processes, and regulatory preparations. In parallel, the company’s technology platform is being further expanded.
What impact will the project have?
Clostridioides difficile infections are among the most common severe hospital-acquired infections worldwide, causing substantial health and economic damage. An effective vaccine could prevent both primary and recurrent infections. This would enable older patients in particular to live longer and healthier lives. At the same time, hospital stays, use of antibiot- ics, and associated antibiotic resistances could be reduced. Moreover, the project strengthens Austria’s position in biotechnology and life sciences.
“Our goal is to prevent severe bacterial infections before they occur. Through novel vaccines, we want to help particularly older people to have healthier lives while reducing the need for antibiotics.”
